Geoplacer Support
Geoplacer is a lightweight field GIS viewer for iPhone. Use this page for file compatibility questions and other product support.
Before you write
Check the in-app message first. If a file is valid but not something Geoplacer can display yet, the app reports that as a capability limit, not as a corrupt file.
- Confirm the format is one Geoplacer can currently import. See supported formats.
- Try a smaller extract of the same dataset if the original is very large.
- Note any coordinate-system conversion alert. Display uses WGS84; check alignment before field use.
File compatibility issues
If a spatial file does not import or does not appear on the map as expected, include as much of the following as you can:
- File format (for example GeoJSON, GeoPackage, GeoTIFF, KML, or KMZ)
- Approximate file size
- iPhone model
- iOS version
- Geoplacer app version (shown in iOS Settings or the App Store listing once published)
- A brief description of the problem, including whether import failed, the layer stayed non-ready, or the map did not show geometry
Do not send confidential or restricted geospatial datasets unless you have authority to share them. A description of the format and the error text is usually enough.

What Geoplacer is for
Geoplacer is for opening and checking spatial data on iPhone during field work, site visits, and everyday GIS workflows. It is not a replacement for desktop GIS, surveying instruments, or certified mapping products.
